Stop the Presses - Spring Update from Tibooburra and Solitude 2018
One of the privileges of being an estate wine producer is to offer wines that truly reflect the growing conditions of each season, as well as some of the complexity that comes with vine age. In healthy vineyards, vine roots tap into deeper subsoils and clays, allowing wines to express mineral characters and subtleties that reflect the true identity of the site.
At Tibooburra / Solitude, we believe we are starting to see this “identity” revealed consistently from vintage to vintage, having been at it now since the mid 1990’s. And now more than ever we are embracing holistic management techniques aimed at growing vines in balanced conditions, with minimal chemical use, as nature intends it to be.
A sustainable less is more approach and a willingness to work with the nuances of each new season is usually the best way to ensure excellent crops and wines that – like us humans – often show more refined characters with age.
As we approach the festive season, we are proud to offer our current line-up of single vineyard wines either as straight or mixed dozens, while stocks last. It’s a rare opportunity to stock up the cellar or to reward colleagues and friends with a special gift, before we move onto new vintages.
The 2017 Tibooburra Yarra Valley Chardonnay is a fine example of a cool vintage, with an elegant minerally texture and subtle citrus and kaffir lime fragrances.
The 2017 Tibooburra Yarra Valley Pinot Noir has the classic refined hallmarks of the upper Yarra… lovely rose- petal bouquet and bright berry characters with hints of forest floor.
The 2015 Solitude Shiraz delivers spice, blood plum and tar, with a complex perfumed and well weighted texture. Some in the trade describe this wine as a “funky beast” that stands up well with northern Rhone syrahs.
The usual 10 % Friends of Tibooburra / Solitude discount applies.
