Solitude Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2008
To celebrate the first of the Pinot Noir grapes coming off the Yarra Valley vines for Vintage 2011, we decided to tuck into a bottle of Tibooburra Solitude Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2008.
I have got to say first up, what a great wine and a great choice for a beautiful Friday afternoon in the Yarra Valley. Made by our good friend Timo Mayer this wine has the German’s pour prints all over it. The pale colour disguises the fantastic perfume nose and intensity of flavour on the first swirl, sniff and taste I knew none of that wine would make it home. For me, the most exciting wines have that moreish character which prevents you from putting the cap back on until it is finished and this wine oozes it.
I am not sure about the name Solitude…although I would love to hold this close and let no one near it, a great wine needs to be shared.
Grab yourself a bottle and let us know what you think. Will you share it?
